Pumpkin carving is huge during Halloween, obviously, so I took on the task of making an Arka pumpkin by carving our logo. Rather than doing a traditional carving of the logo I skinned the Arka owl on the pumpkin and decided to carve some decorative circles around it for the candle light to shine through.
It was my first time carving a pumpkin, so I had my friends walk me through the process.
First, you've got to take out the top of the pumpkin and take out the inside of the pumpkin out.
Once you've done that you can begin carving your pumpkin. Or in my case skinning the pumpkin to make your design.
I did this by printing out our logo on a normal sheet of paper and I traced it with a tool that rotates as you outline the design and leaves marks for your registration. Then I used a knife and outlined my design and began skinning it. To put it simply, it was a pain in the ass.
Captain obvious would tell you that not enough candle light will shine through, so I carved out some circles around the logo and this is the result.
Here's another shot taken in the dark.
And here are the pumpkins that were carved by my friends.
Happy Halloween peoples.
