I'm a big fan of beer. I do my best to try as wide of a spectrum of flavors, types, and origins as possible. Before I list a few of my current favorites, I must admit the only type of beer I'm not such a big fan of is the IPA. If there was nothing else left to drink, I may have a bottle but that would be a last resort. The bitterness is a little too overpowering.
So here are a few "go-to" beers that I love in no particular order.
Lets Start with "Brother Thelonious" by the North Coast Brewing Company. These guys are on point with a lot of their selection that includes Pranqster, Le Merle, and Red Star Ale just to name a few. This beer is as silky and smooth as its name suggests. Its a dark ale and is considered to be Belgian Style.
Most places you go, Allagash Curieux will be priced around $20 for a 750ml bottle. The price may seem a bit high but I promise that you wont be disappointed. Curieux is a Tripel Ale that is aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels for 8 weeks. The flavor has a hint of vanilla with a nice bourbony finish.
Maudite hails from Canada and is brewed by the Unibroue brewery. They too have a nice lineup of beer that suits many different pallets. This consists of a orange amber color and has a really nice zesty citrus flavor that isn't overpowering. This is a beer I enjoy with food.
Le Merle is another gem from the North Coast Brewing Company. This is a Saison that has a hint of flower. It is extremely crisp and refreshing. For those of you who aren't big fans of beer, this is a great option to consider.
Last and definitely not least is Hopf Dunkle. Think of this Dunkle as a dark hefeweizen. Smooth, creamy and rich, there are hints of banana and coffee perfectly balanced. The beer may appear a bit darker in color but don't be fooled, this beer is very easy to drink.
There you have it, my current favorite beers. Notice I say 'current' because this list is bound to change every month. Just make sure to enjoy responsibly.
